An innovative new retail experience in South London has been launched, with a little help from Saxon Lift Company. In partnership with Premier Platform Lifts, Saxon installed a bespoke scissor lift at Boxpark Croydon, to deliver products and goods to the shop units, which are situated on different levels.
The pop-up shopping centre, the first of its kind in the world, converts shipping containers into retail spaces for both independent and global retail stores, alongside bars and cafes.
The lift has a total capacity of 1,000kg and has been manufactured to operate outdoors. Because Boxpark consists of shipping units stacked on top of another, the lift will play a crucial role in transferring goods to stores.
Roger Bates, director at Saxon Lift Company, said: “Working closely with Premier Platform Lifts, we were able to supply a bespoke hydraulic goods lift solution for a unique retail environment. To maximise the safety of the installation, the upper level and platform of the lift are protected by electro-mechanically interlocked gates, alongside a handrail, with the underside of the lift enclosed in mesh guarding.
“This installation is the latest in a number of exciting projects for Saxon Lift Company, and demonstrates the scope of our varied client base.”
